About Us

  • View WCU NC TEACH PowerPoint for an overview of Western's program, including retention data.
  • Spring 2006 WCU NC TEACH Principal Survey - In response to a statewide effort to identify successful alternative entry programs, an email survey was distributed to principals in western North Carolina to gather data regarding their perceived effectiveness of teachers who participated in Western's NC TEACH Program from 2000-2005.

Western Carolina University and the College of Education and Allied Professions (CEAP) sponsors a range of activities and programs that facilitate excellent teacher preparation. NC TEACH is one component of an alternative teacher licensure program.

Western provides virtual support to NC TEACHers through the Center for the Support of Beginning Teachers' (CSBT) Online Network portal. The portal is a web-based site where students may view job postings, interact with faculty, network with other NC TEACHers, and access resources needed for the program and first year of teaching.
