Costs/Financial Aid

Western's NC TEACH licensure courses are available as a Distance Learning Program (DLP) because courses are held off site or online. Tuition for distance learning programs is calculated by credit hours. If you're an out-of-state member of the military, you can receive tuition reductions for DLP programs.

You can also take licensure courses as a resident student, with conveniently scheduled courses at our Cullowhee campus, on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Asheville, or at our Cherokee Center. Graduate resident tuition is based on a full-time or part-time status. Undergraduate resident tuition rates are based on full-time status.

North Carolina Residence and Tuition Status Application

Out-of-state students who are hired to teach in North Carolina public schools are eligible for in-state tuition while they establish residency. Complete the Out-of-State Tuition Waiver Application and submit prior to each semester you attend.
