Apprenticeship is a one-credit experiential course. The student is required to do one apprenticeship in their concentration area.
The student can complete up to three hours of apprenticeship electives.
The student is required to work 7 hours per week for 10 weeks.
The total number of hours required is 70.
Students are required to turn in daily activity logs for the 10 weeks. These are in the form of two five sets of logs . Both sets of logs should contain no less than 35 hours. Many of you will work more than the minimum number of hours, however you are only required to work a minimum of 70 hours.
Students are not required to work the week before final exams.
Log sheets are turned in twice during the semester. They should be dated Monday through Friday. For example: your first log sheet will be dated 28 Aug 06 through 01 Sep 06 then 04 Sep 06 through 08 Sep 06, etc. The first set of log sheets is due Wednesday 04 Oct 06 by 5 PM. The second set of log sheets is due Wednesday 08 Nov 06 by 5 PM . All log sheets must be signed by you apprenticeship supervisor. No excuses for turning in log sheets late.
Log sheets need to be turned into the appropriate faculty member (Dr. Rey Treviño, RM 122J Reid Gym, Dr. Kadie Otto, 104 Reid Gym or Dr. Kevin Ayers, RM 122L Reid Gym).
Log sheets should be descriptive and chronicle your daily activities. Do not simply list your duties over and over. It should read more like a journal. Log sheets will be graded based on your description of your tasks and the timeliness in which they were turned in.
On Fri 03 Nov supervisors will be mailed evaluation forms. Please remind your supervisor that these forms need to be completed and returned in a timely fashion. The supervisor evaluation is a big part of your grade.
If you have any problems, questions, or concerns call Dr. Treviño (3559), Dr. Otto (3548) or Dr. Ayers (3549)
