Western Carolina University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award bachelor’s, master’s, education specialist, and doctoral degrees. http://www.wcu.edu/UnivCatalog/Catalog/univ/accred.htm

Professional education programs leading to licensure are accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.

In addition, degree programs also seek to attain area accreditation from discipline accrediting agencies where available.
