Problem solvers building responses, compositions and solutions need feedback on their progress and challenges. Thinking about something from the perspectives of different higher order thinking skills enables a kind of self-check. To a small degree, digital feedback can be designed to carry out evaluations and reports on basic mechanical aspects of a composition. For example, a spelling checker. Human feedback comes in a variety of anytime (asynchronous) and live forms. Sometimes the response/solution is the work of a single author/composer supported by a feedback team that only offers editing suggestions. Increasingly the Read/Write web is built by collaborative authors using what might be called webtop collaborative tools or shared online applications. In the case of folksonomies, such as del.icio.us's social bookmarking, the tagging feedback is the composition itself. Feedback provides not only checks that fix mistakes and clarifies ideas but gives further stimulation for your ideas. Live feedback provides real-time discussion (synchronous) with others who are invited to discuss your project or composition. In addition to other forms of communication, the Internet provides a world of people and electronic communities to contact. The feedback, editing and revising process provides significant critical and creative elements for successful problem solving. |
