Videoclip Tutorials
These image manipulation skills are fundamental to further work with web page or desktop publishing.
Audio-Video
For a short introduction, study the videoclips tutorials. These tutorials cover Recording, which the Videoshop Tutorial manual does not. They also cover separating audio data from video so that "radio broadcasts" can be made from videotape recordings.
Ask the lab assistants for the Videoshop Tutorial manual. It takes about two hours to work through this thorough treatment on the editing process.
Virtual Reality
Virtual Reality involves the use of 3-D space for movement thru information and experience. It can take place on your flat computer screen through the Web. Also, there is an immersive VR in which participants have a special helmet and/or pointing devices in which you move into the information space and feel inside or a part of the scene.
- Movies. If you can handle a movie with a couple of Hollywood horror flick scenes or only watch portions of it, the movie Lawnmower Man is worth renting for one future vision of VR. In addition to searching the web for virtual reality sites, here are a few places from which to learn:
- Virtual Reality and Education Laboratory at the School of Education, East Carolina University, has done a significant amount of correlation between developments in VR and the curriculum of our public schools.
- BeeHive Technologies QTVR Users Page
- Martin's Worlds and Panoramas
Human Interaction
Try thinking of people as the highest form of multimedia. Consequently, your site is a stronger multimedia site to the degree that it provides options for human interaction. Choose elements to incorporate into your web site: email, email conferences (newsgroup, LISTSERV), online databases (survey, messages, resources), live presentations (text chats, audio and/or video conferencing), file sharing, controlling data collection with remote sensors.
